I have been in a whirl with Cupcake being out, it is, I cannot tell you, very exciting to watch a book come out and have lots of people buy it and like it (HMM obviously only the people who do like it bother to let you know, I guess the others just throw it over a wall, but nonetheless it’s still very nice).
Being a contrary character, after saying I am hardly ever on facebook, I have totally started parking out on my publisher’s page on facebook, which is at www.facebook.com/jennycolganbooks BECAUSE loads of people have, to my total surprise, started baking the recipes from the book and posting them up there. It’s amazing, I feel like I am responsible for cake popping up all over the place. Anyway, if you want to get in touch, or post your recipe pics (I am trying to figure out a way to turn it into a competition without being able to taste any of them, it’s really tricky), feel free to pop over there and say hi.
As for reading, like half the rest of the country I have been sucked- PLOUF- headlong into A Game of Thrones of which there are at least another billion and a half pages to read. It’s entirely possible I’ll never read anything ever again, although I am anxious awaiting the new Jon Ronson. Jon is one of those writers whom I will read on literally anything, I seriously think he’s a genius. I would never tell him this though, it makes him anxious that kind of thing. OOH and I am reading the six year old this. It is making us both very happy, possibly me the most. It took us a couple of goes to get into it as he was very scared of the white witch at first, but now we’re hooked. I envy him, hearing it for the very first time. “What’s Aslan?” he keeps asking, as C.S. Lewis foreshadows him brilliantly.

I have just finished reading this fantastic book it made me laugh out loud[and get some funny looks] it also made me angry and not like Issys so called boyfriend/boss, but fell in love with the bank manager even before she did. This book was Brilliant I will recommend it to anybody and everybody, you are a fantastic writer Jenny this book made me want to open my very own Cupcake Cafe!!
Hi Jenny, I have just read ‘Cupcake’ today, I couldn’t put it down, well done it is a lovely story. After finishing the book I went straight to the kitchen and made your Vanilla cupcakes, much to my husbands great delight!! I hadn’t made a cake for ages so thank you for reminding me just how easy it is.
I will now be looking out for your other books as I really liked your style. Thank you for a lovely few hours of escape from the housework!
Best wishes
Suzanne.
I have just finished reading this book. What can I say – loved it! But I do think it should come with a government health warning “This book will make you hungry!”
Linda
Hi Jenny,
Just finished reading Meet me at the Cupcake Cafe and absolutely loved it! Loved all you recipes and look forward to trying them out and reading all your other books as this was the first one I have read.
Hi Jenny,
Just finished reading meet me at the cupcake cafe , i have always wanted to start up my own bakery and that’s what pulled me towards the book as i was going on holiday and wanted a good book to read … I loved the book and cant wait to try thr recipes :D
This is the first of your books I have read – I bought it to read on holiday (my children now old enough to allow me to read a book – yay!) – brilliant, loved it! I too was so inspired, I had to go out and buy a bun tin on holiday and make some cupcakes for my family, rather eccentric, but had to be done! I also bought a cupcake recipe book on holiday and came back and made some more! Looking forward to making the Nutella cookies next :-) Thank you! Looking forward to reading some of your other books, didn’t know what I’d been missing!
Thank you so much for writing this lovely book. I am an aspiring chef and baker and I absolutely adored this book. Someone lent it to me and I polished it off in two days flat. I can’t wait to try out all those yummy recipes! In fact, I’m definitely making those nutella cookies this week (alas, they will not be ‘not-going to work nutella cookies’ as I must still work!) This book made me laugh, cry, feel angry at Graeme, rejoice with Issy when the Cafe was finally running and so many other emotions. A beautiful, beautiful, truly inspiring book. Merci beaucoup, Jenny!
Hi Jenny
I have read all your books and this is so far my absolute favourite!!
I have made the Pear upside down cake, and this morning I made the orange cup cakes…yummy scrummy…
I am not sure if you know this but the recipe said bake for 50 mins…I only baked for 15-17 as this is about right for a cupcake mix so I guessed it was wrong?? Made no difference to me, they have all been eaten by my work colleagues in about 5 mins flat!!!
Cant wait to make the lemon one…

OH wow Claire, great! Am so pleased! Thanks for dropping me a line, sorry it took so long to reply! Jen xxx
what a wonderful book Cupcake Cafe is,I couldn’t put it down!!! How exciting that there will be a Christmas follow up next yr.It was my first book of yours & I have now ordered more. Your style is similar to Jane Costello & I now adore you as a writer,as much as I do Jane!!!
Hoping the postman delivers a new book tomorrow,I am normally not much of a reader, but you have changed that…..THANK YOU!!! :)
Hi, Jen! Although I am german and not grown up with the english language I read the Cupcake Cafe. Now it is one of my favourite books ever! At least there is one german Cupcake fan who can’t wait for Christmas 2012 (at the CC) to come! Thank You so much for lots of happy hours (and some sad, too) with Issy and their friends. By the way: Is there any real cafe which was your inspiration to “The Cupcake Cafe”?
Thanks for an enchanting story, Candyman
